Add Applications to the Menu

(from Forum user fore17)
Sometimes, and it may happen, you install an application and everything goes OK except you cannot find it in the menu. First, you should notify developers in the forum. As far as I know there isn't a GUI for this but these steps have worked for me with GTK applications.

  1. Locate the binary. The default is /usr/bin but could be any number of places depending on the installation.
  2. Click to open the application or type it's name at a terminal then <enter>. “Sudo” may be needed if it's a root application.
  3. Right click the left icon at the top bar and select “edit icon”
  4. Choose “general”
  5. In the field “Categories”, add: GNOME;GTK;
  6. After “GNOME;GTK;” add the submenu name followed by a semi colon ”;”

Adding the app icon to the “menu”

  1. Locate the icon. Usually you find these in /usr/share/icons or possibly ~/.e/e/icons.
  2. Open the application as stated previously.
  3. Right click the left icon at the top bar and select “edit icon”
  4. Choose “icon”
  5. In the empty field, write the complete path and icon name.
