Everything is an Enlightenment Module (see E17 Basics) that is a very powerful but often misunderstood application. This guide is meant only to describe the basic features of Run Everything to help get you started. There are many more features available and information on them can be found at the links at the end.
Run Everything does not have a title bar with buttons to maximize, minimize, and close like most other applications. To close Run Everything just hit the
Esc key. It can also be opened with the handy keyboard shortcut
Alt + Esc
One of the primary purposes of Run Everything is to locate files of any type on your system, whether they are text, image or even application files.
Everything will show results as you type, as you can see in the screenshot to the left. So far only “firef” has been entered, but Everything has already located the program launcher for Firefox. If that is what you're looking for, just press Enter and Firefox will launch.
If you're not looking for the application Firefox, but rather the screenshot of Firefox you have on your system, just use the arrow keys to navigate to “screenshot-firefox.png”, press Enter, and this will open the image.
Other things such as using Run Everything as a calculator or searching YouTube can be easily added. You can explore some of the features by going to Main Menu → Settings → Settings Panel → Launcher tab and select Everything Configuration.
